Celebrating the Heart of the Old West

Welcome to the Willcox West Fest, an annual celebration of the rich western heritage of Willcox, Arizona, known as the "Cattle Capital of the Country" from the 1880s to the 1930s. Held every April at Quail Park (1138 N Quail Dr, Willcox, AZ 85643), this family-friendly weekend brings the spirit of the Old West to life with chuck wagon cook-offs, ranch rodeos, and a vibrant array of activities that turn good times into great memories.

    Our Story

The Willcox West Fest began as a tribute to the cowboy way of life, rooted in the history of Willcox, a city that once shipped more cattle directly from the range than anywhere else in the nation. Since its inception, the event has grown into a beloved tradition, drawing visitors from across the Southwest to experience authentic 1880s-style chuck wagon cooking, thrilling rodeo action, and the camaraderie of the Old West. Each year, chuck wagon teams showcase their culinary skills with mouthwatering recipes, while local ranchers compete in rodeo events that highlight the real skills used in daily ranch work.

    What to Expect

Join us for a rootin’-tootin’ good time at the Willcox West Fest, scheduled for April 17-19, 2026. Savor slow-cooked meals straight from historic chuck wagons, watch cowboys and cowgirls compete in the ranch rodeo, and explore a variety of western vendors offering unique crafts and merchandise. Enjoy live country music, storytelling, cowboy church, and family-friendly activities like pony rides, wagon rides, and dummy roping for kids. From gunfight reenactments to blacksmithing demonstrations, there’s something for everyone to experience the Wild West.

    Why Willcox?

Nestled in the Sulphur Springs Valley, Willcox is a hidden gem surrounded by Arizona’s iconic mountain ranges and steeped in cowboy culture. As the birthplace of Rex Allen, "The Arizona Cowboy," and a hub for Arizona’s wine country, Willcox offers a unique blend of history, adventure, and hospitality. The West Fest celebrates this legacy, inviting visitors to step back in time and create lasting memories in a community proud of its western roots.
